Chelsea news: Lemar swap deal, Abramovich’s Hazard to Real Madrid plan, Sandro pursuit off

Chelsea back-up striker Michy Batshuayi could be used as makeweight to sign Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, according to The Telegraph.

Antonio Conte’s men have had a frustrating season and the Italian is widely expected to bolster his ranks in January.

And The Telegraph say Lemar is being lined up so Conte can deploy Eden Hazard as a false nine.

The Frenchman can play on either the left or right flank which would allow Hazard to play a more central role.

It’s suggested the Ligue 1 champions could ask for Batshuayi in return, though, after their interest in the Belgian over the summer.

Marcel Desailly is not too worried about reports repeatedly linking Blues star man Eden Hazard with a move to Real Madrid.

The Chelsea legend reckons Blues owner Roman Abramovich will have a plan in place to replace the Belgium international.

“We are still in the season, no player is more important than the club,” Desailly told Goal.

“Even when [Didier] Drogba left, one of the great players, the spirit of the club continued. They continued to win.

“We will be sad if Hazard has to go but I am sure that Roman Abramovich is still passionate about the club.

“He will bring in another player that can allow the club to be at the same level again.”

Chelsea will not pursue Juventus star Alex Sandro in the January transfer window, according to ESPN’s Italian football expert Gabriele Marcotti.

“Alex Sandro of course in the summer, a lot of talk about Chelsea offering vast sums,” Marcotti said.

“You’re talking £65, £70, £75m and a year ago he certainly was on that level.

“But he’s having a very poor season this year, at Juve often Asamoah plays ahead of him.

“As I see it, I don’t see why Juve would let him go.

“They want to hang onto him and try to get him back to the level at which he was at.

“So I think there is a very, very small chance and certainly no one in England who has watched him play this year are going to offer those kind of sums.”
