Charlie Nicholas is backing Michy Batshuayi to score and tipping Chelsea to beat Bournemouth in the League Cup last eight on Wednesday night.
The Blues will be looking to book their place in the Carabao Cup semi-finals at Stamford Bridge given Chelsea are facing a difficult task overhauling runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City in the title race.
The west London side were 1-0 winners against their quarter-final opponents Bournemouth in the Premier League at the Vitality Stadium back in October thanks to Eden Hazard’s winner on the south coast.
The Cherries are low on confidence following a 4-0 loss to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool FC side at the weekend following goals from Philippe Coutinho, Mohamed Salah, Dejan Lovren and Roberto Firmino.
Indeed, Eddie Howe’s men are winless in their last five Premier League outings ahead of Wednesday evening’s trip to west London.
Batshuayi has netted three goals in two League Cup games to help the defending champions reach the last eight of the competition.
Former Arsenal midfielder Nicholas is tipping Batshuayi to fire Chelsea to victory over Bournemouth in the League Cup quarter-final at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
“Antonio Conte will have one eye on Everton away on Saturday so I think there will be changes with the likes of Michy Batshuayi and Charly Musonda given another chance,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
“However, their visitors are in a relegation battle and after a 4-0 battering, they’ll need every ounce of energy to prevent an even bigger hammering when they visit Manchester City on Saturday.”
Batshuayi has scored six goals in five starts and nine substitute appearances in all competitions so far.
