Alvaro Morata marked his return to the Chelsea starting eleven with the opening goal against Brighton, and it arrived via a familiar source.
The striker headed in Cesar Azpilicueta’s cross in the 46th minute to make it 1-0 to the Blues. The combination means it is now the sixth time this season that a Morata goal has been assisted by Azpilicueta.
The Blues defender first assisted his compatriot in the 2-0 win over Everton in August, and followed that up by providing a goal for him at Leicester two weeks later, when Chelsea won 2-1. He also provided two of his compatriot’s three goals at Stoke in September, and another in the win against Manchester United.
The second best combination in the Premier League is Tottenham’s Kieran Trippier to Harry Kane, and Dele Alli, also to the England striker, with four assists apiece.
Aaron Ramsey to Alexandre Lacazette and Raheem Sterling to Leroy Sane are all among the chasing pack on three.
The sight of Morata and Azpilicueta combining is a common one, but their latest effort certainly delighted Chelsea fans, who took to social media to voice their delight.
Azpilicueta assist to Morata AGAIN. It's getting ridiculous now.
