ALVARO MORATA has revealed his weird and wonderful tradition adopted after Chelsea win at home.
The Spanish striker, who lives within a five minutes walking distance from Stamford Bridge, treats himself to a pint of beer as a reward for helping his side to maximum points.
A pit-stop at the local public house for a tipple to discuss the action is the norm for most on the terraces.
But to see a leading Premier League striker, not least one who made a £60million move from Real Madrid in the summer, doing the same is extraordinary.
Speaking of his newly-adopted routine, Morata told Spanish radio broadcaster Cadena SER: “I live in Chelsea five minutes away from the stadium and sometimes at the end of the match, if the roads are closed, I take my training gear off and walk home.
“If we win I give myself the reward of having a beer.
“I change my clothes, I take off Chelsea’s because if it’s not impossible, I put on a hat and go home.”
Morata is now planning to drink more pints this season as he aims to help Chelsea succeed in the Champions League.
And his dream scenario would be a showpiece final with his former side.
He added: ”What can I say about Real Madrid? I won everything at that club, certainly I would like to play in another Champions League final against Real Madrid, and win it.
“The other day someone told me your agent must be Harry Potter since you aren’t worth 20 million so I asked him how much he was worth, there will always be people ready to criticise.”
Lampard praises ‘complete’ Morata
Chelsea great Frank Lampard praised Alvaro Morata for his start to life in the Premier League, labelling the Spain forward a “very complete striker”.
Morata, 25, has scored seven league goals in 10 games for Chelsea since making a reported £60million move from Real Madrid in July.
Only Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane – who have eight apiece – have scored more Premier League goals than Morata this season.
Lampard, a three-time league winner at Chelsea, said he had been impressed by the Spaniard, who netted in his side’s 1-0 win over Manchester United prior to the international break.
“He’s been very impressive, Morata,” Lampard told Omnisport, speaking thanks to Chelsea FC club partners Yokohama Tyres.
“He’s scored regularly, he’s a very complete striker, he has everything – speed, quality on the ball, his movement is fantastic and he can score goals.
“The goal against Manchester United… the quality of the finish with his head was top class.
“He’s been very good. He had a small injury and I think that maybe stopped him for a couple of weeks, but very impressive for me.
“I like him a lot and I think he’s going to score many goals in the Chelsea team and in the Premier League.”
Antonio Conte’s men have won three straight league games and sit fourth in the table, nine points behind runaway leaders Manchester City.
