Michael Owen believes Liverpool will beat defending Premier League champions Chelsea on Saturday evening despite their mid-week collapse.
The Reds were winning 3-0 at Sevilla in their penultimate Champions League group-stage fixture following a dominant first-half performance in Spain.
However, Alberto Moreno made two mistakes to allow Sevilla to reduce the deficit to one goal with 25 minutes to play in the European clash.
Liverpool were unable to hold on despite bringing on Emre Can and James Milner as the Spanish club levelled in added time.
Chelsea, meanwhile, were 4-0 winners against Azerbaijani outfit Qarabag in the Champions League on Tuesday night thanks to goals from Willian, Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas.
The defending champions have won their last four Premier League games thanks to victories over Bournemouth, Watford, Manchester United and West Brom.
Liverpool managed to collect four points from their two top-flight meetings with Chelsea last season thanks to a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge before a 1-1 draw at Anfield.
Former Liverpool striker Owen is backing Jurgen Klopp’s men to win in a high-scoring Premier League clash with the defending champions.
“A mouth-watering clash between two in-form sides and it is hard to see how this could finish 0-0 given the philosophies of both managers and the abundance of attacking talent on show,” Owen told BetVictor.
“Both sides have scored in 11 of the last 12 games between the teams and I can’t see that trend being bucked at Anfield.
“Liverpool let go a three-goal lead in Sevilla midweek in the Champions League but they are wonderful to watch going forward and I think they will shade what promises to be a classic.”
Liverpool have beaten Huddersfield Town, West Ham and Southampton in their last three Premier League games.
