Chelsea will be looking to book their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League when they take on Qarabag on Wednesday night.
Ahead of the game, Antonio Conte has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference and he’s offered reporters a team news and injury update.
The Blues boss confirmed that Eden Hazard is fit and available for selection after being substituted during Chelsea’s 4-0 win at West Brom shortly after scoring his second goal.
However, Conte also revealed that he’ll be without four players with Michy Batshuayi, Victor Moses, Charly Musonda and Kenedy all missing the trip to Baku.
Batshuayi is still nursing an ankle injury that he picked up while away with the Belgian squad earlier this month while Musonda has been struggling with a knee injury in recent weeks.
Moses has missed Chelsea’s last eight games with a hamstring injury that he sustained against Crystal Palace last month while Kenedy is the latest player to pick up a knock after suffering a muscular problem.
Conte is quoted as saying by the Metro:
‘Hazard is fit and no new injuries. Batshauyi and Moses are not available for tomorrow’s game, also Musonda and Kenedy.
‘Kenedy had a little muscular problem, but I think he is very close to be back with us.’
Chelsea head in to the game tomorrow night sitting second in Group C and one point behind Roma following their heavy defeat in Italy earlier this month.
But with third-placed Atletico Madrid four points adrift, Conte knows victory tonight would book their place in the knockout stages of the competition.
Ordinarily, Conte may be tempted to rest some of his key men with a huge trip to Liverpool coming up this weekend but the Chelsea boss can’t really afford to with their qualification hopes still in the balance so I expect a strong side to be selected against Qarabag.
