Chelsea were criticised for selling Nemanja Matic to Manchester United in the summer as their midfield has endured it’s fair share of struggles so far this season, but Antonio Conte isn’t ready to bring in another player.
According to Don Balon, Chelsea have turned down the opportunity to sign Andre Gomes from Barcelona in January as the La Liga club look to cut their losses on the Portugal international.
Gomes joined Barcelona from Valencia for a reported £35m in July 2016 and was part of the Portugal side that won the 2016 European Championships, but he’s not had the greatest 18 months at the Nou Camp.
The 24-year-old has started just two La Liga games this season after making 47 appearances across all competitions in the last campaign and Ernesto Valverde is looking to offload him.
Both Atletico Madrid and PSG have also turned down the midfielder who was a target for Tottenham and West Ham late in the summer transfer window.
