Bad news on N’Golo Kante ahead of Chelsea vs. Manchester United showdown

Chelsea’s loss on Tuesday night to AS Roma was just the latest indicator for much the team misses N’Golo Kante.

The Premier League’s Player of the Year, who has yet to experience anything other than winning the league in his time in England, has been missing since the start of October when he picked up a hamstring injury. While there was some optimism that he could return before the original end-of-month prognosis, especially after he had returned to training, Kanté remained out from both of Chelsea’s games over the past few days and didn’t even make the matchday squad for yesterday’s loss.

But now it’s a new month, so Kanté’s back for sure, right? It’s November and Daylight Savings is done in the UK so we can all feel better now, yes?

Not according to multiple reports from the Stadio Olimpico last night, which agree that Kanté only rated his own chances of playing at 50-50. And considering that Conte has made it clear that it’s up to the player to declare himself fully fit and thus available to play, that’s pretty bad news.

“After an important muscular problem, it would be stupid to risk it, so when Kante feels at 100 per cent, he will return to playing.”

Kante has four days to recover and save us.
