Conte believes in me, he did not want me to leave – Batshuayi

A lot of fuss was made about how Chelsea were torn apart by Manchester City or how glorious Pep Guardiola’s men are. Nobody remembered though that the kind of dismantling that Atletico faced had its consequences, one of them being very tired players as a consequence of the constant and incessant pressing. So when you play Manchester City within three days of such a gruelling match, players can’t execute the game plan.

Hence, the loss to City will more than likely be a temporary blip in an overall Okay season. That loss, seems more palatable given that Chelsea’s new talisman Diego Costa Alvaro Morata limped off after 34 minutes with a Hamstring injury. That injury has been confirmed by Spain as serious and will keep him out for at least a month if not more

Now the question arises whether Conte trusts Michy Batshuayi or he goes with Hazard, Pedro and Willian in the front three like last season. If the former is the case, that would imply that Conte trust the Belgian, who is on national team duty right about now.

Hence, we believe you should read this report published in Express

The Belgian striker has struggled to become a regular starter under the Italian boss since his £33million move from Marseille in the summer of 2016.

Batshuayi has started just two Premier League games in his Chelsea career to date.

The 24-year-old was linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer after failing to hit the ground running in his debut campaign.

Alvaro Morata’s £70m arrival from Atletico Madrid also spelled fears Batshuayi could call time on his career in west London.

Morata is now set to be out for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury and Batshuayi is confident Antonio Conte will back him to deliver the goods for the Blues in front of goal.

“I really think Conte believes in me otherwise he would have said I could leave in the transfer window – and he didn’t say that,” he told the Sun.

“His decisions often depend on the opponent and the tactics, and that is beyond my power.

“Conte congratulates me because he knows that I am working hard.

“I am stronger tactically thanks to him, as are all the Chelsea players because he is a very good coach.

“It sounds strange to say, but the misfortune of one is sometimes the happiness of the other.

“I know I will get more opportunities to play in the coming weeks.

“And is it then up to me to show that I am capable.”

Batshuayi is expected to make his third league start for Chelsea when they host Crystal Palace after the international break.
