Diego Costa is set to undergo a medical with Atletico Madrid on Friday, AS confirm.
The Chelsea striker is expected to move for €65 million.
The Madrid press wrote last week that it expected Chelsea to accept this offer for the 28-year-old, who can’t actually join the Colchoneros until January.
The striker scored twenty Premier League goals last season as the Blues won the Premier League, but he was dumped in summer by Coach Antonio Conte, who said via Whatsapp that “he wasn’t in his plan”.
Costa will be available to train with his new (or old) team as soon as possible, however.
He is set to cost the Wanda Metropolitano side a massive €55 million, with €10 more coming in bonuses.
The striker could be present for this Saturday’s key clash with Sevilla, though he obviously won’t be able to play.
The Brazilian hasn’t kicked a ball in anger in over 100 days.
The loan move is close to being agreed and would begin in January and will ultimately result in the Spanish club paying £40m for the permanent transfer of Costa in the summer.
Costa will not be able to feature for Atletico until 2nd January 2018 but is hoping to return from Brazil to train with the club and regain match fitness as he faces an uphill task of fighting back into the National team setup.
Costa is officially registered in the Chelsea squad but Conte has no plans of using him at any point in the season.
Chelsea Linked to PSG Striker
The recent move, in the summer, that saw Neymar Jnr leave Barcelona to join Paris Saint-Germain, could have something of a knock-on effect.
As well as the world record transfer fee altering the status quo when it comes to prices being paid for players, it could also see the departure, from Paris Saint-Germain, of a world-class forward.
Last weekend, there was a squabble between Neymar and Edinson Cavani over who should take a free-kick in what was deemed a dangerous position.
The following day Neymar Jnr openly declared that Paris Saint-Germain should sell Cavani.
Subsequently, the media has gone into overdrive as to where the 30-year-old striker Uruguayan could end up.
One source, the Daily Star, is of the opinion that Paris Saint-Germain have already offered Cavani to the Spanish giants Real Madrid.
However, a second source, the Daily Mail offers a different inference.
The aforementioned source is of the opinion that both Chelsea and Everton are interested in the striker but that they face opposition from the Serie A side, Napoli.
But what`s your view, can you see Edinson Cavani coming to Stamford Bridge or is it all just newspaper talk?
