Alvaro Morata has made a sensational start to life in the Premier League, seamlessly taking over the mantle from Diego Costa following the Spaniard’s exit from the first team.
The perfect number nine, he has shown lethality in front of goal, he has shown pace, he has shown technical skill – Morata truly has it all.
There was a sharp intake of breath, then, when reports suggested that the Spaniard could face a late fitness test in order to determine whether he is fit enough to play against Man City this weekend. It was noted by the Times that he had picked up a minor injury against Atletico Madrid, leading to panic in the pub.
However, in the lead-up to the game, Antonio Conte (via Ben Dinnery) has calmed nerves surrounding the Spaniard – with the manager stating that Morata is fit and available to start.
No problems with Alvaro Morata. Conte confirms the #CFC striker is fit and available. Only Danny Drinkwater [calf] is missing through injury

Chelsea aren’t blessed with offensive depth, and so Morata’s fitness is particularly important in that sense.
With Man City scoring freely this season, Chelsea need all the firepower they can muster if they want to outscore their title rivals on Saturday.
Antonio Conte will be glad that his star striker is available, as the start he has made has been sensational.
Michy Batshuayi’s style of play doesn’t link up with Conte’s methods as well as Morata’s does , and the Spaniard bagged a hat-trick last time out in the Premier League, and so his confidence will be sky high.
This could be game-changing.
Antonio Conte: It will be difficult to pick Chelsea side
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has claimed that he does not know how many changes he will make for the club’s Premier League fixture with Manchester City.
The Blues head into the game at Stamford Bridge with an opportunity to move level on points with City, but the game comes less than 72 hours after Conte witnessed his side record a 2-1 win away at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
Conte will want to name his strongest possible team, but the Italian has acknowledged that the club’s recent schedule may play a part in his decision-making.
The 48-year-old told reporters: “I don’t know. It is the 7th game in 21 days. It is an important and tough after Atletico. It will not be easy to make a decision tomorrow.
“In my eyes there is the last performance against Atletico. Every player played well. I have to check the physical condition.
“Every single player wants to play in this game. This massive game is only after two days after the last game. We are ready, it is a massive game and we are excited to play.”
Chelsea are currently unbeaten in all competitions since the opening weekend of the season.
