Mahrez has been given permission by Algeria’s Football Federation to leave the national team’s camp in order to complete his transfer from Leicester.

AS report that Chelsea and Arsenal have submitted offers to Mahrez but Barcelona have ‘accelerated’ their interest ahead of their transfer deadline on Friday.

Double snub hits Blues

Chelsea could miss out on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Fernando Llorente, but Riyad Mahrez has emerged as a target.

Blues boss Antonio Conte is hoping to bring in a number of new players before the transfer window closes tonight, but already looks like suffering disappointment on at least two fronts.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been a target for Chelsea but it is believed Liverpool has always been the player’s preferred destination, and a deal is on the verge of going through after the two clubs agreed a fee.

The 24-year-old is now discussing personal terms before undergoing a medical with the Reds.

Elsewhere, Tottenham are reported to have entered the race to sign Swansea striker Llorente by offering £15million for the Spaniard.

Chelsea have been chasing the former Juventus star since the January transfer window and were hoping to wrap up a deal before today’s deadline, but reports now claim that Spurs could hijack the deal.

And Leicester forward Mahrez has been given permission to leave the Algeria squad and return to Europe to ‘formalise his transfer to his new club’, with Chelsea said to be in the running.

It could turn out to be a triple swoop on the Foxes as Danny Drinkwater and Jamie Vardy also continue to be linked.
