Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is keen on the Brazilian and wants him on board at Stamford Bridge.
But Juventus don’t want to sell, and have slapped a mammoth price tag on his head to try and put the Blues off.
And it’s done the trick with Chelsea not willing to pay the huge fee.
Former Fleet Street journalist Ian McGarry revealed the news on the Transfer Window podcast.
He said: “Chelsea’s pursuit of Alex Sandro has been long and tiring.
“First of all they wanted (Leonardo) Bonucci, who ended up at Milan.
“You would have thought Chelsea could capitalise on some of the discontent and chaos at Juventus, and Alex Sandro might be someone they could get.
“Juventus have been very resistant and what I’ve been told is Juventus would only consider any transfer of Alex Sandro starting at a price of £73m.
“Chelsea will not pay that amount of money for Alex Sandro, I’m sure of that.
McGarry added: “This is a red herring and going nowhere unless Juventus significantly reduce their asking price.
“Having lost Bonucci, they don’t want to lose another cornerstone of the team.”
This transfer seems to be dragging to the last day of the transfer window. Juventus don’t want to sell him for any less than the £73 million being quoted while Chelsea want them to reduce that significantly.
