Juventus star hands in transfer request as Chelsea look to complete deal before deadline

Antonio Conte still wants to add to his squad before the transfer window shuts next week and it’s no surprise he’s targeting players he knows can perform for him.

The former Juventus and Italy manager is said to be interested in Claudio Marchisio this summer and the Serie A champions have made the midfielder available for sale this summer.

Juventus have already sold Mario Lemina to Southampton, Francesco Cassata to Sassuolo and allowed Tomas Rincon to join Torino on loan, but are still eager to ship out one or two midfielders with new arrivals planned, and Marchisio along with fellow Italy international Stefano Sturaro are both tipped to leave.

31-year-old Marchisio is a real fan favourite in Turin and has been touted as the successor to Gianluigi Buffon as club captain from next season, but he himself has reportedly handed in a transfer request after Massimiliano Allegri told him he’s not seen as a key player. Use these free football bets if you think Chelsea will land Marchisio this summer.

Chelsea are interested in bringing Marchisio to the Premier League but as an older player, the club hierarchy aren’t particularly keen on bringing him, or any player of a similar age to the club.
