Here’s the 15 man transfer shortlist that Conte has handed board to pick from

The Chelsea manager has already brought in Tiemoue Bakayoko, Antonio Rudiger, Alvaro Morata and Willy Caballero this summer and hopes to double that number with a late recruitment drive.

The club’s penalty shoot-out defeat to Arsenal on Sunday highlighted the squad’s lack of depth and captain Gary Cahill has since said the club cannot afford key injury blows.

Both Bakayoko and Eden Hazard will miss the start of the season with injuries, while Diego Costa is set to leave the club before the end of the month.

As well as another midfielder, Conte will target at least one wing-back, an attacking midfielder and another forward. Chelsea may yet make as many as four signings before the window closes.

Ross Barkley, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Renato Sanches, Fernando Llorente and Alex Sandro are among the names on Chelsea’s wishlist. Some of the names are big ones but the list also includes some comparative unknowns. It is exciting nonetheless.

Alexis Sánchez: Last year of contract at Arsenal, will transform the attack.
Alex Sandro: Juve’s prized wing back. One of the best in the world in his position.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: The proposed competition for Moses. He can fill in at many other positions.
Ross Barkley: Homegrown like Oxlade-Chamberlain but will be costly.
Djibril Sidibé: Monaco star, will provide backup at Chelsea.
Virgil van Dijk: Handed in a transfer request but Southampton don’t want to sell.
Adama Traoré: A striker, but very selfish and unproven in PL.
Cedric Soares: One of the good options at his position but unlikely.
Ryan Bertrand: Chelsea academy graduate. Good wing-back option.
Mousa Dembélé: Also pursued by Barca
Fernando Llorente: has already worked with Conte and PL proven. World class header of the ball.
Marco Verratti: Very expensive. Very, Very good.
Faouzi Ghoulam: Unknown but exciting.
Danny Drinkwater: Leicester may sell for £25. Will make his way to the bench at Chelsea & provide cover.
Renato Sanches: Bayern’s star boy. They don’t want to loan/sell.
