After failing with Sandro, Conte wants board to sign this wing back

Antonio Conte is desperate to bolster his options in the wing-back department. Chelsea were strongly linked with a move for Alex Sandro earlier in the summer and their latest attempts to sign the defender were swiftly rebuffed by Juventus.

Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso missed just eight Premier League games between them last season with both players often playing the full 90 minutes.

But with Champions League football added to their calendar this campaign, Conte has made bringing in a full-back one of his main priorities.

And the Telegraph claim Soares is one of several players Conte has eyed as potential targets he wants to bring into Stamford Bridge this summer.

Soares only joined Southampton in 2015 from Sporting Lisbon for £4.7million.

But Conte still hasn’t given up signing Sandro from Juventus, while Chelsea have also expressed an interest in Serge Aurier, who has been told by Paris Saint-Germain he is up for sale.

Alvaro Morata, Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko have joined Chelsea in big-money moves this transfer window but the latter is not yet fit to play while Willy Caballero has been drafted in as a back-up choice to Thibaut Courtois.

But Conte has made it clear to the Chelsea hierarchy he wants to bring in more players.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Danny Drinkwater have also been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent weeks.
