Diego Costa back in Chelsea attire as he trains in self-imposed exile

Diego Costa is keeping himself in shape during his self-imposed Chelsea exile – wearing club colours.

The wantaway striker is determined to return to Atletico Madrid and has no plans to return to Stamford Bridge or play for the club again.

In the meantime the 28-year-old is training on his own and posted this Instagram video of a treadmill session today.

All fairly standard except Costa – who was famously seen in an Atletico shirt last month – was back in Chelsea attire with his club shorts.

Costa’s relationship with manager Antonio Conte has broken down since the Italian told him via text message that he was no longer needed at the club.

Costa only has eyes for a return to Atletico, currently under a transfer embargo, and will seemingly do anything necessary to secure that move.

“My destination is already made. I must return to Atletico Madrid,” he said in a statement.

“It turns out that there is the impasse that Chelsea does not want to release me.

“But I believe that this situation will be resolved now on my return to Spain.”

Antonio Conte laughs off Diego Costa’s claims Chelsea treated him like a “criminal” saying star is “in the past”

Earlier this week, Costa gave an interview to the Daily Mail in which he stated his desire to leave Chelsea, accusing them of treating him like a ‘criminal’.

He said: “I am waiting for Chelsea to set me free. Why won’t they let me go if they don’t want me?

“My desire is to go to Atletico. I’ve spoken to Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia. I said, ‘If the manager doesn’t want me, I want to go to Atletico Madrid’.

Today, Conte was quizzed about those comments at his press conference ahead of the Spurs game at Wembley.

Conte could not contain his amusement, laughed for nearly a minute in front of the TV cameras and also insisted Costa is now “in the past” for the club after his public outbursts.
