Disgraced Chelsea starlet Kenedy is closing in on a loan move to Newcastle United, according to The Sun.
The Brazilian was sent home from Chelsea’s pre-season tour of China after posting a disparaging video on his Instagram account.
Antonio Conte has washed his hands of the Brazil Under-20 international and has now sanctioned his departure on loan to newly promoted Newcastle.
Manager Rafa Benitez is said to have used the Chelsea contacts during his time at the Stamford Bridge helm to engineer a move for the 21-year-old who was shipped out to Watford last term but made only one top flight appearance for the Premier League strugglers.
Former Liverpool boss Benitez has endured of difficult summer, having been frustrated in his attempts to bolster a squad that won The Championship last season.
‘I am not happy [with transfer dealings] but for me it is a challenge,’ Benitez told Sky Sports.
‘I want to do my best. Every manager wants to improve and have better players, but at the same time, I am happy with the players I have because the team spirit was good last season and hopefully we can replicate that.
‘It is important for the fans to understand that this year will be totally different.
‘For the players it must be the same. We must have a game plan and try and stick to it.’
