With a week of pre-season completed, Willian reflected on being back and also looked forward to our imminent tour of Asia.
The Brazilian attacker scored goals one and two in our behind-closed-doors training game against Fulham at Cobham on Saturday afternoon, and he completed a hat-trick moments before the break with the pick of the bunch, a superbly-struck 20-yarder that flew into the net.
It was a beneficial 45 minutes for our wing wizard.
‘I felt good,’ Willian told the official Chelsea website. ‘It was a friendly training game, but we did our job well. It was a good start.
‘I felt a little bit tired but it’s normal after the first week of pre-season, you always feel better after more time, and now I am ready to do more work.’
Willian scored 12 goals last season and is hopefully of bettering that number in the forthcoming campaign.
‘I say thank you to Michy who passed to me very well for the first two goals against Fulham. I felt in good touch and I hope more goals come for me this season. I will try to beat the number I scored last season.’
Tomorrow Willian and his team-mates will jet off to China for the first leg of our Asian pre-season tour. London rivals Arsenal await there and then Singapore will host a couple more showpiece friendlies against Inter Milan and Bayern Munich. Willian says he is ready for the next fortnight of work on the other side of the world.
‘It will be good, it’s the next step for us. We have some important training to do and games out there before the beginning of the season.
‘We have to continue preparing well and we go there to try and win our games, starting with the Arsenal one in Beijing.’
