MANCHESTER UNITED do not want to sign Chelsea target Tiemoue Bakayoko and have not submitted a bid for the Monaco midfielder.
That is according to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, who says Bakayoko is close to joining Chelsea.
The Monaco powerhouse has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge throughout the summer.
But Manchester United were reported to be keen on him in the last couple of days and were said to have agreed a £34million fee with the Ligue 1 club.
Bakayoko would be the second signing United have beaten Chelsea to in this window, after completing a £75million deal for Romelu Lukaku yesterday.
But Solhekol says that will not be the case and Bakayoko is set for a medical with Chelsea this week.
“Chelsea are pressing ahead on their move for Tiemoue Bakayoko,” he said on Sky Sports News.
“They are close to signing the Monaco midfielder and he will have a medical in the next few days.
“The fee is expected to be just under £40million.
“There have been reports Manchester United are trying to hijack the deal again, but we’re told they have no interest in Bakayoko and they have not made a bid for him.”
Bakayoko has made 63 Ligue 1 appearances for Monaco and scored three goals since joining from Rennes in 2014.
He was a key part of the side which reached the semi-final of the Champions League last season.
