Chelsea have failed with a €70 million (£61.2m) offer for Juventus left-back Alex Sandro, according to reports in Italy.
Sky Sport Italia claim that the bid, which does not include add-ons, is now the ‘last official offer’ from the Premier League champions.
Juventus have been constantly raising the Brazilian’s asking price this summer and now appear set on keeping him in Turin.
It’s claimed the Serie A champions are also reluctant to sell any more key players after allowing Leonardo Bonucci to join AC Milan on Friday.
Chelsea had also been in contact with Juventus to sign Bonucci but the Italy international is remaining in Serie A due to family reasons.
Juve’s decision over Alex Sandro will add to Chelsea’s frustrations after they lost out to Manchester United in a deal for Romelu Lukaku.
Chelsea have secured the signing of Antonio Rudiger in a £34m deal from Roma but Antonio Conte is looking to bolster his defensive options even further.
But the Chelsea manager will be forced to pursue alternative targets to strengthen his left flank, given Juve’s tough stance over Alex Sandro.
The Premier League champions are also on the brink of officially announcing their £40m deal for Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko, who was at the club’s training ground in Cobham on Friday to finalise his move.
