It’s official: Chelsea complete the first signing of the new season

Although before we all strip off and do a jig of delight in the street outside, perhaps we should point out it is a signing out of necessity rather than one to delight the supporters.

As we all suspected the former Manchester City goalkeeper, Willy Caballero has put pen-to-paper on a contract at Chelsea Football Club.

The 35-year-old, who was released by Manchester City when his current deal expired in June joins Chelsea as the back-up to Thibaut Courtois.

Argentinian by birth, Caballero arrives on a free transfer having made 26 times for Manchester City, in all competitions, last season.

Talking about signing for Chelsea, Caballero has remarked,

‘I am very happy to join the champions of England.

‘I am looking forward to meeting the guys and helping the club achieve more success.’

Welcome to Chelsea Football Club Willy.
