MARCOS ALONSO has backed Alvaro Morata to be a big hit at Chelsea.
The £60m Spaniard arrived at Stamford Bridge last week for a club-record fee.
He made his first appearance in a Blues shirt earlier today, setting up Michy Batshuayi in the 3-2 loss against Bayern Munich.
Morata has only been working with his new team-mates for two days.
He was limited to a substitute appearance today but as the Spain international gains fitness and understanding with his team-mates, Alonso is expecting big things.
He told ESPN: “He’s just arrived, he needs time.
“Time to get used to the way we play.
“I think he’s a great player.
“He will do so well for us, for sure.”
Blues boss Antonio Conte also called or patience following the friendly defeat.
He explained: ”It is too early now to talk about the impact of Alvaro during the game.
“Remember he stays with us only two days and he needs to work and find our idea of football.
“For sure, he showed great will to fight, will to go into our idea of football and for us he is a good buy.”
