Golden Boot winner emerges as alternative to Morata, odds slashed

Chelsea are in the market for a new striker this summer after manager Antonio Conte informed last season’s top goalscorer Diego Costa that he is no longer in his first-team plans. Various reports are suggesting Chelsea have made a serious enquiry to Borussia Dortmund for star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Football Italia, the Daily Express and Sky Sports Deutschland are all running the story that the Blues are now seriously looking at the €80m-rated hitman after they were beaten to Romelu Lukaku’s signature by Manchester United.

Bookmakers Betfair have slashed Chelsea’s odds of signing the Gabon international from 16/1 to 7s following a flurry of bets.

The report has been pushed by the Daily Express, while it’s now been picked up by Germany’s Sky Sports too.Despite having been the Bundesliga’s top goalscorer with 31 goals in 31 games last season, Aubameyang has been heading out the BVB door for some time, and a few weeks ago it seems like the Gabon star was set to join PSG.

But then the Ligue 1 giants withdrew their interest, and Aubameyang’s future has been unclear ever since.
According to reports, Borussia Dortmund would sell the 28-year-old for around 70 million euros.
