FERNANDO LLORENTE is reportedly on the verge of signing for Chelsea.
The Swansea striker was chased by Antonio Conte back in January.
The pair worked together at Juventus and built a good relationship.
With Chelsea in need of strengthening their frontline this summer, Llorente is a target despite the fact he broke his arm during his summer holidays.
His experience at the age of 32 and proven Premier League quality makes him appealing to Chelsea.
Llorente bagged an impressive 15 goals in his first season of English football.
And according to Transfermarketweb, a deal is ‘almost done’ for Chelsea to sign the Spaniard.
Llorente would be seen as a back-up option at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea need to replace Bertrand Traore, Tammy Abraham and Diego Costa, who is no longer part of the manager’s plans.
Michy Batshuayi and Loic Remy’s futures at the club are also unclear, leaving Antonio Conte light of options up top.
Llorente, though, is excited by the chance to get back working with the Italian and reunite this summer, Transfermarketweb add.
The Swansea star only has one year remaining on his contract at the Liberty Stadium, meaning he is not likely to cost Chelsea a big fee.
And following the failure to land Everton’s Romelu Lukaku, with Conte’s top striker target heading to Manchester United, the imminent arrival of a new frontman would be welcomed.
Reports this week claimed Chelsea have revived their interest in Llorente, and it now appears they are close to completing a move.
Additionally, a marquee striker is still required, with Alvaro Morata and Andrea Belotti potential alternatives to Lukaku.
