French outlet RMC Sport have given Chelsea fans a huge boost as they report that the club have agreed a £39.8 million fee with Monaco for midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko. They say that the French international will undergo a medical with the Blues on Friday, which would suggest that he could be announced as a Chelsea player as soon as this weekend.
The 22-year-old has been linked with the club throughout the summer but has seen his future up in the air whilst he has been recovering from a knee operation undergone at the conclusion of Monaco’s victorious Ligue Un campaign. The recovery from that operation may see him miss the start of the Premier League season should he join the Blues.
In what would be another landmark transfer, Italian newspaper La Stampa claim that Chelsea are prepared to go all out in their pursuit of Torino striker Andrea Belotti and could even spend as much as €100 million (£88 million) on securing the deal. The 23-year-old scored 28 goals in 38 games in last season.
Also earning his breakthrough into the Italian national team, having previously been ignored by Blues boss Antonio Conte, he scored four in his first nine caps since his debut in August. One of the most in demand forwards in Europe, it would be a huge operation to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
That move could be hugely encouraged by reports in Spain from radio station Onda Cero which say that Alvaro Morata does not consider a move to Chelsea as an option and is now focused on establishing himself as a regular in the Real Madrid first team. That comes after a £200,000 per week offer from Manchester United and a huge £500,000 per week proposal from Chinese side Tianjin Quanjian.
Morata was thought to be the most obvious candidate to replace Romelu Lukaku as Chelsea’s top target up-front after the ex-Everton man joined Manchester United. Now, it seems that it may be back to the drawing board for Antonio Conte and his scouting team.
