CHELSEA youngster Charly Musonda is not joining Celtic this summer, according to his brother.
Express Sport understands Celtic are interested in signing Musonda, with reports suggesting they’ve agreed a £5million fee with Chelsea.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers also talked up the 20-year-old’s ability, claiming Musonda is the exact type of player the Scottish champions need.
He said: “Celtic have been great in trying to make [the transfer] happen and, if we can close the deal out, it will be a high level of quality.
“He is young but is a big talent who has got experience. It’s good money that will be spent on him.
“The player I’m talking about is of a substantial pedigree and quality.
“We have players who can play there but it’s about getting pace and power and also another one that can make the last pass.
“I felt that was something I wanted to add. We are hopeful we can get that.”
While Celtic defender and fellow Belgian Dedryck Boyata talked up a move for Musonda, claiming the winger has the potential to be Europe’s next superstar.
But Lamisha Musonda has responded by shooting down a move to Celtic as his brother is fully focused on Chelsea.
He posted on Instagram: “LOL [laugh out loud]. *crying laughing emojis*
“I love Dedryck [Boyata]. No one could get near him!
“Celtic’s interest is flattering but Charly’s a Chelsea player and is focused on Chelsea.”
Musonda has been at Chelsea since 2012 but is yet to make his senior debut for the Blues, having spent last season on loan at La Liga outfit Real Betis.
