Brazilian Superstar to be named Chelsea’s next Captain ahead of Gary Cahill: Rumors

DAVID LUIZ is in the running to be Chelsea’s new permanent captain.

The report says he is a serious candidate and overtaken team-mate Gary Cahill.

The Sun claim Conte is very impressed with Luiz’s leadership skills and his natural vocal instincts, especially when motivating players during big games.

It is also suggested Spanish defender Cesar Azpilicueta is also being lined up as a future captain.

Luiz appears to be holding the edge over Azpilicueta and Cahill as they prepare for their pre-season tour of the United States.

After their Community Shield fixture against Arsenal on August 6, they face Burnley in their opening game of the new Premier League season six days later.

According to the guys at The Sun, David Luiz could be the name in the frame. The sourced story says it would be a shock move, I`m not sure I`d go that far.

Indeed as the article says “Fuzzy haired Brazilian has shaken off his image of an accident waiting to happen to become a major force in the dressing room.”

I think this is a fair comment, there can be no doubting that Luiz is a character and capable of leading the dressing room.

The question may be as to whether he has the authority within the team to do so, after all I imagine it must be quite difficult to take that cheeky face seriously.

If it`s not going to be Luiz who takes the armband though, who do you think the captain should be?

  1. i think cahill is capable of leading the squad but if luiz eventually get the armband it will be great for the team and squad.

  2. No one deserve the captain armband than Gary Cahill. He is very dedicated and committed to his defensive role than Luiz who often his role as a defender in action
