Atletico Madrid would not consider sending Diego Costa out on loan if the club re-sign the Chelsea man, according to reports from Spain.
Spanish newspaper AS report that Costa is Diego Simeone’s main target ahead of the new season, and the club are close to striking a deal to bring the striker back to the capital.
Although the striker would not be able to play until January due to their transfer ban, AS believe that nobody at Atletico speaks about the situation as everyone is intent on pleasing Simeone by signing his transfer target.
Costa is also intent on returning to Atleti and now it is up to both clubs to agree on a transfer fee for the Spain international.
If the Champions League semi-finalists were to sign Costa they would not entertain the idea of letting him play for someone else until their ban ends at the turn of the year.
AS understands that the 28-year-old would work with fitness coach Oscar ‘Profe’ Ortega for four months as they believe Costa will be ready to perform come January as he will be anxious to play.
Atleti believe this scenario will benefit Costa and he will provide healthy competition for fellow strikers Antoine Griezmann, Fernando Torres and Kevin Gameiro.
