Antonio Conte has urged Chelsea fans to give record signing Alvaro Morata time to settle into the club.
Morata made his first appearance for Chelsea since joining from Real Madrid for £58m as a second-half substitute in Tuesday’s 3-2 defeat against Bayern Munich.
It has been a hectic few days for the Spain international having left Real Madrid’s camp in Los Angeles for London on Thursday and then flew to Singapore three days later.
Understandably Morata showed only a few glimpses of his talent – including an assist for Michy Batshuayi’s late goal – and Conte said: “It is too early now to talk about the impact of Alvaro during the game.
“Remember he stays with us only two days and he needs to work and find our idea of football.
“For sure, he showed great will to fight, will to go into our idea of football and for us he is a good buy.
“It is right to give him time to adapt to our idea of football, but for sure I think we must be pleased for his performance.”
