He wants to join Mourinho: Chelsea star has already discussed Man Utd transfer

Nemanja Matic is reportedly keen on a summer move to Manchester United, to play under former Chelsea boss Jose
Mourinho.

Re-signing from Benfica in January 2014, Matic immediately impressed as one of the Blues’ key players, thriving as the most defensive of Mourinho’s midfielders.

Indeed, the Serbia international played a key role in Chelsea’s Premier League and League Cup double of 2014/15.

His form tailed off dramatically last season, as the Portuguese coach was sacked, but the 28-year-old has regained his place in the starting XI under Antonio Conte.

However, according to the Manchester Evening News, Matic now wants to leave the reigning Premier League champions.

The report claims that a transfer fee is yet to be agreed between the two clubs, but that Matic has already held talks over a potential switch.

What were the key numbers behind Matic’s Premier League campaign?

88 – N’Golo Kane (89%) was the only Chelsea midfielder to have displayed a better pass accuracy than Matic (88%).

7 – Surprisingly, he ranked third in the Blues squad for assists, teeing up seven goals for his teammates.

3 – Matic’s average of three defensive actions per match was lower than each of his three other seasons in England.
