Antonio Conte wants to sign Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio for Chelsea this summer, according to reports in Italy.
The Premier League champions are already targeting Alex Sandro and Leonardo Bonucci but according to La Repubblica, Conte is also keen on a deal for Marchisio.
The 31-year-old only started 15 games in Serie A last season after failing to regain his place in the team following a cruciate ligament injury.
The Italy international still has three years to go on his current contract with the Italian champions, but La Repubblica claims he could be persuaded to join Chelsea if the offer is right.
Marchisio was a key part of Conte’s midfield at Juventus as the duo won three Serie A titles together.
The 31-year-old was also one of Conte’s trusted players during the Chelsea manager’s two-year stint as Italy’s head coach.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are pressing ahead with their deals for Alex Sandro and Bonucci.
The Premier League champions are reportedly ready to bid £58 million for the Brazilian left-back and Juve’s general manager Beppe Marotta has confirmed that he will not force the player to stay.
‘We have already received a suitable offer,’ he told Sky Sport Italia.
‘We have no intention of selling anybody, but if a player decides he wants to leave, which has happened to us in recent years, then in the end they have got to leave because it is of no use to anybody to keep hold of a player against their wishes.’
