CHELSEA are ready to launch a last minute raid for Kostas Manolas.
That’s according to Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli.
He says Antonio Conte is a big fan of the Greek who appears destined to move to Russian side Zenit.
Zenit and the Roma star are said to be finalising the details of the centre-back’s move east – but it’s not done and dusted yet.
And Giulianelli says Chelsea are ready to rock the boat.
Conte is preparing to blow Zenit out of the water with a £35m offer.
Zenit have stumped up £26.2m for the 26-year-old.
The problem for Conte is that the Russians are ready to offer Manolas a superior financial package.
Tiemone Bakayoko is thought to be close to signing from Monaco.
Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk is another target and reported yesterday claimed he was on his way to west London.
It is unlikely Chelsea will sign both given Van Dijk’s lofty fee.
However, Chelsea have been backed to try and steal Manolas from the clutches of Zenit.
