Romelu Lukaku has sent a message to Eden Hazard after his potential future Chelsea team-mate suffered an ankle injury while the pair were together on Belgium duty.
The Blues winger could be set to miss the start of the season following this knock, and Lukaku has commented on the situation as he was near him when it happened.
Lukaku and Hazard have long been international colleagues but could be playing together at Stamford Bridge next season, perhaps leading the 24-year-old to be doubly worried about his injury.
‘It was the last action of the game and we all thought it was just a twisted ankle,’ the Everton striker said.
‘He stood up and he was really positive. Then we heard the scan results and we were really disappointed for him, because he’s a key player.
‘He’s had a great season so it’s disappointing for a big player like him to get injured but he’s got a good mentality and he’s a good professional so I hope he comes back really quick.’
Lukaku has strongly hinted he’s on his way to Chelsea in the last couple of days, telling interviewers he’s decided on his next move amid reports that he’s rejected Manchester United, and winking in response to a question about joining the Blues.
