CHELSEA’s summer swoop for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku is almost completed as part of Antonio Conte’s massive summer transfer spree, according to reports.
Romelu Lukaku, 24, is one of Chelsea’s primary transfer targets after Antonio Conte informed Diego Costa last week that he was no longer required at the club.
Tiemoue Bakayoko, Marco Verratti, Leonardo Bonucci and Alex Sandro remain on the Italian manager’s wish list though.
The Mirror claim Conte is looking to add five players to his Chelsea squad this summer as he prepares for a Champions League campaign next season.
They report the Blues boss was promised a hefty war chest to land his targets this summer as Roman Abramovich’s club looked to keep him out of the reaches of Inter Milan.
And apparently the first piece of their summer business is all but done as Lukaku’s Stamford Bridge switch is almost completed.
Not only that, The Mirror claim the move for Bakayoko could be tied up by the end of next week, which would make him the second midfielder to leave Monaco for the Premier League this summer after Bernardo Silva signed for Manchester City last month.
Verrati remains on their hit list and he’s thought to have told Paris St-Germain chiefs he plans to leave France this summer.
Conte already tried to sign him once while he was at Juventus and is set to have another go at the move.
The arrival of Bakayoko and Verratti could spell the end of Cesc Fabregas’ and Nemanja Matic’s time at Chelsea.
And The Mirror hint Matic could be used as a makeweight as Conte looks to sign Juventus star Leonardo Bonucci.
