Real Madrid are reportedly ready to spend a world-record £100million to seal the transfer of Chelsea forward Eden Hazard this summer after three rounds of talks with the player’s entourage this year.
The Spanish giants have long been linked as big admirers of the Belgium international, who has established himself as one of the best attacking players in Europe during his time at Stamford Bridge.
Recent reports have claimed Chelsea have been in talks with Hazard over a new contract, but the club may have cause for concern over his future now.
Real have apparently met with Hazard’s entourage on three separate occasions in 2017, with The Sun claiming he is one of Zinedine Zidane’s top priority targets for the summer.
The Frenchman has previously described the 26-year-old as one of his favourite players, and wouldn’t rule out trying to bring him to the Bernabeu one day.
‘After Messi and Ronaldo, Hazard is my favourite player,’ Zidane said in 2015. ‘It is spectacular to see him play. Do I see him going to Real Madrid? I love the player, that’s all I will say.’
The report adds that Hazard has been promised a key role as an advanced playmaker in Zidane’s side, and this could help persuade him to push for a move away from west London.
While Hazard has publicly stated his commitment to Chelsea, there is known to be a mutual admiration and respect for Zidane, which has given the La Liga champions confidence of landing him in the near future.
Real are also ready to spend as much as £60million on Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea in what could be a busy summer in the transfer market, regardless of this weekend’s Champions League final result against Juventus.
