Manchester United have been reportedly informed that Chelsea are close to signing Romelu Lukaku from Everton.
The striker is set to leave Goodison Park after refusing to sign a new contract and has been heavily linked with both United and his former club Chelsea in recent weeks.
Speculation over his future increased this week following comments made on international duty in which he dropped a massive hint that personal terms with a fellow Premier League team had already been agreed.
As reported by The Independent, United made an enquiry last week regarding Lukaku’s availability and were told that the Belgium international is nearing a move to Chelsea.
Only Harry Kane scored more goals than Romelu Lukaku in the Premier League this season.
It is anticipated that Lukaku will join Antonio Conte’s side in a deal in excess of £80 million. He was previously with the Blues between 2011 and 2014 but failed to score in 15 senior appearances.
At Goodison Park, however, Lukaku has been hugely impressive, as showcased by the fact that he has scored at least 20 goals in each of the last three Premier League seasons.
