Swansea City will complete the loan signing of Tammy Abraham now the striker has finished his international duty with England Under-21s.

Abraham will also sign a new Chelsea contract, worth around £50,000-a-week, as part of the Blues’ long-term plan to integrate him into the first team squad.

Newcastle United, Brighton and Celtic all tried to sign Abraham on a season-long loan, but the 19-year-old has decided to join the Swans.

Even since news broke that Swansea had reached an agreement in principle with Abraham, Newcastle and Celtic attempted to hijack the deal.

But the teenager has remained true to his word and will link up with former Chelsea coach Paul Clement at the Liberty Stadium.

Abraham scored 26 goals in 48 appearances on loan at Championship club Bristol City last season, making him the hottest young striking property in the country.

He was billed as a potential star of the Under-21 European Championships, but only netted one goal and missed a penalty in the semi-final shootout defeat to Germany.

Chelsea were adamant that Abraham would not be sold and hope a season in the Premier League will prepare him to return as part of their first-team squad.

The club plan to keep a pathway for him clear by not signing young strikers who could provide an obstacle for Abraham in the future.

Last summer, Chelsea turned down the chance to sign Brazilian 20-year-old striker Gabigol because of how highly they rate Abraham and the fact they want to give him the best possible chance to succeed.

It is believed Chelsea are not receiving a loan fee for Abraham because their priority was to find the best club for his development. But it has been reported that the successful club would have to pay £1million to cover signing-on fees for the player, his family and his agent.

It has also been alleged that Abraham will be paid more than his £50,000-a-week Chelsea wage by his loan club and the deal will include a lucrative goal bonus.
