Diego Costa scores for Spain, comments on Chelsea future

Manchester City wizard David Silva continued his ridiculous goalscoring form for the Spanish national team, scoring for the fourth match running and giving him 8 goals in his last 10 games for La Furia Roja, as Spain ran out 2-1 winners in Macedonia on Sunday night.

Joining Silva on the scoresheet was none other than Diego Costa, who had the simple job of tapping into the open net after some good work from Isco on the right flank.

Costa’s been in great form for Spain as well, this being his fifth goal in the last six games, which is most on the team during this World Cup qualifying cycle.

But what we were really concerned with was Diego Costa in the mixed zone after the match. Last time he was there, he dropped the bombshell of his text wars with Antonio Conte. What would he say today? Something a whole lot more boring, it turns out.

“The truth is I still don’t know [where I will be playing]. I have two more years on my contract with Chelsea. They have to know what they will do with me. I am still waiting for the club’s decision.”

The long odds on an amicable resolution just got a teensy-weensy bit shorter. Maybe we’ll just hug it out? Nah…

Pedro made a cameo off the bench for Spain, but Azpilicueta was nowhere to be found and did not even make the matchday squad.

Elsewhere, Nemanja Matić, another player who’s been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, played the full 90 in the middle of Serbia’s 3-4-3 as they came from behind to draw 1-1 with Wales.
