Chelsea are considering a move for Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez, according to reports.
The Daily Telegraph claims that the Premier League champions have placed the 26-year-old on their shortlist and are ready to rival Arsenal this summer
It’s claimed that Mahrez would be keen on joining Antonio Conte’s side, but Chelsea are not willing to pay Leicester City’s £50 million asking price.
The Algeria international also has a verbal agreement with Leicester which allows him to leave for a team in the Champions League.
Last month, Mahrez was caught by a French television station talking up Chelsea’s stature to his Leicester team-mate Islam Slimani.
‘They’re an incredible club. A real club,’ he said.
Conte is looking to bolster his attacking options ahead of next season’s run in the Champions League and Mahrez would provide competition for Eden Hazard, who will miss the start of the campaign after undergoing ankle surgery.
