Chelsea have stepped up their pursuit of a wingback this summer after surgery to regular wingback Victor Moses, which could see him miss the start of pre season training.
Moses missed Nigeria’s AFCON 2019 Qualifiers 0-2 loss against South Africa as he has to undergo surgery to cure a long standing issue which slowed him down during the course of last season.
The 26 year old according to the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria played through the pain barrier in Chelsea’s 1-2 loss to Arsenal in the FA Cup final, where he was sent off for two bookable offences.
He underwent surgery few days ago and he is currently recuperating, and initial reports gathered by Owngoalnigeria.com has it that he could miss the start of their pre season training due to start in three weeks time.
Depending on the length of time he will be out coach of Chelsea Antonio Conte could be forced to dip into his transfer budget for a right wingback, especially as Moses was their only credible option in the role last season.
