The latest trend, amongst footballers, seems to be getting involved in ownership of an emerging club in the US.
It was a trend started by Didier Drogba, in Phoenix, and a trend that looks set to be continued by Eden Hazard.
Hazard, along with two others who have entertained us in the Premier League, Demba Ba and Yohan Cabaye, have taken part ownership in a new club based in San Diego.
The club will participate in the second-tier of the North American Soccer League next season, with Eden remarking about the project,
“We can`t wait to get started.
“San Diego is beautiful and the passion people have for soccer there made this an easy choice.
“My friends and I are honoured to turn this dream into a reality.”
It`ll be interesting to watch on from this side of the pond to see how the new club fares, but here at Vital Chelsea we wish Eden every success with the project.
