Contract talks between Chelsea and Thibaut Courtois have stalled over the player’s wage demands, The Times reports.
Courtois is thought to be demanding £200,000 per a week to put pen to paper on a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
The Premier League champions are keen to tie Courtois down to a long-term deal to fend off interest from Real Madrid, but the Belgian may be forced to lower his demands.
The proposed new deal would see Courtois double his current wage packet, believed to be worth around £100,000 a week.
Chelsea’s number one is hoping to secure a new deal that would see him match Eden Hazard’s salary after the brilliant season he has had under Antonio Conte, where he kept the highest number of clean sheets throughout the league.
Courtois has two years remaining on his Chelsea contract, giving both parties plenty of time to discuss their options.
