Chelsea make £53m bid for monster UCL defender

As reported by TuttoMercatoWeb, Chelsea have made a massive bid for one of the top defensive talents in Europe.

Despite romping home to the English Premier League title last season, Antonio Conte appears eager to build on that success rather than be content with the squad he has. Next season it gets a little trickier with the club also fighting on a European front.

One man said to be of interest to the Italian is Napoli’s massive defender Kalidou Koulibaly. TuttoMercatoWeb report that the Blues have made a huge £53m bid for the 6ft 5in centre-back.

To best illustrate the attributes Koulibaly possesses, all you need to do is take a look at the nicknames he’s earned in his career so far. One is The Wall, self-explanatory, and the other is K2, after the second highest mountain in the world.

Known for his physical presence, tackling and ability to pass his way out of defence, it’s clear that he could make a big impact at Stamford Bridge. In his third season of Serie A football, he’s improving all the time and at the age of 25 has plenty of years ahead of him at the top level.

He made 38 appearances for the Italian club last season including 8 appearances in the UEFA Champions League. That European experience could be vital for the Blues going forward.

John Terry is arguably irreplaceable in terms of influence and leadership but ability wise Koulibaly may just be the man Antonio Conte is looking for.
