Chelsea to announce first summer signing imminently after agreeing terms

Chelsea are expected to announce Willy Caballero as their first signing of the summer after agreeing terms with the free agent, according to reports.

The Argentine shot-stopper was released by Manchester City at the end of the season and has been on the look out for a new club ever since.

He had been linked with a possible return to his homeland with Boca Juniors, but Argentine TV station TyC Sports report that it is Chelsea who have won the race for his signature.

Willy is believed to be thrilled by the prospect of remaining in England and the Premier League, while compatriot and former City team-mate Pablo Zabaleta will be close by after signing for West Ham.

Chelsea have been on the look out for a new No.2 ever since they sold Asmir Begovic to Bournemouth in a £10 million.

And Antonio Conte will be delighted to have signed up an experienced keeper to act as understudy to Thibaut Courtois next season as he plans an assault on the Champions League.

Chelsea are expected to spend significantly more in the coming days, with the Blues targeting a host of new recruits.

Romelu Lukaku is close to re-joining the club in an £80 million deal, while Monaco’s Tiemoue Bakayoko is a long-term target.
