CHELSEA have made a “serious enquiry” for Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski, it has been claimed.
Lewandowski, 28, has emerged as one of football’s most prolific forwards since joining Bayern in 2014.
The Poland international made 47 appearances in all competitions for the German giants last season, scoring an impressive 43 goals in the process.
But, according to the Mirror, he has become unsettled in Bavaria.
Earlier this month Lewandowski accused his teammates of costing him the Bundesliga’s top goalscorer award.
And Chelsea are apparently hoping to capitalise on his frustration.
The Mirror claim the Blues have made a “serious enquiry” for Lewandowski.
They romped to the Premier League title in their first season under Antonio Conte.
But the Italian is said to be after two top strikers ahead of a Champions League campaign next term, especially with Diego Costa and Michy Batshuayi possibly departing Stamford Bridge this summer.
Starsport understand Chelsea have already agreed personal terms with Everton’s Romelu Lukaku.
The Mirror also credit them with interest in Real Madrid star Alvaro Morata, Torino’s Andrea Belotti and Alexis Sanchez of Arsenal.
Lewandowkski is tied to Bayern until 2021 after penning fresh terms at the end of last year.
The Mirror suggest Chelsea will be unwilling to pay over the odds for the former Borussia Dortmund man.
Marina Granovskaia, their chief negotiator, is said to be keen for the west London outfit not to buy older players for big fees this summer.
