ROMAN ABRAMOVICH wants Antonio Conte to sign a new deal at Chelsea – so he’s at Stamford Bridge next season and beyond.
Inter Milan continue to show interest in the Chelsea boss while reports today suggest Barcelona are pondering a shock swoop.
Both clubs will have been hugely impressed by the way Conte has taken England by storm – with the Blues on course for the double.
Abramovich is well aware his man will be in high demand and is willing to hand him a rise on his current £6.5m-a-year salary.
Conte’s current deal runs out in 2019 but news of Barca’s interest will particularly worry the mega-rich Russian.
Luis Enrique is stepping down at the end of the season and there is a potential chance for Conte to walk into the Nou Camp hot-seat.
But Abramovich knows Conte signing an extension will put an end to any talk of him going and he’s keen to get a deal done.
Given Conte’s business-like approach, any talks are likely to be put on hold until the end of the season.
And if an agreement has been reached, an announcement is unlikely to be made before the season is over given it could cause a distraction to his Chelsea players.
