This is when Chelsea will be handed the Premier League trophy

CHELSEA win the Premier League tonight – if they beat West Brom – but when will they receive the trophy?

What do Chelsea need to do to win the Premier League?

It’s simple – one more win will do it.

Tonight, Chelsea travel to the Hawthorns to take on overachieving West Brom.

Victory against the Baggies will put Chelsea on 87 points, 10 points clear of second-placed Tottenham.

They have three games to go, meaning the lead would be an unassailable one.

It would mean they reclaim the title – 12 months after handing it to Leicester.

When would they lift the Premier League trophy?

Regardless of whether they win tonight, it won’t be at the Hawthorns.

They will instead have to wait until their final game of the season to get their hands on the honour.

That will be on May 21 against Sunderland at Stamford Bridge, where they will be given a guard of honour before kick-off.

Why won’t Chelsea be handed the Premier League trophy tonight?

It’s all down to the Premier League and their preferences.

Even if Chelsea sealed the deal two months ago, they’d have to wait.

League chiefs order that a presentation must be held on the final day of the season – regardless of when the title is won.

It does mean, however, that Stamford Bridge fans will be able to see their side hold the trophy aloft.
