CHELSEA could reportedly swoop for Valencia star Ezequiel Garay if they fail to coax Athletic Bilbao ace Aymeric Laporte to Stamford Bridge.
The Sun claim Bilbao sensation Laporte is the Blues’ top defensive target.
The 22-year-old has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in La Liga and has also been linked with Manchester City.
But he won’t be allowed to leave on the cheap.
It’s suggested Bilbao will demand at least £55m to part with their prized asset.
Given his mammoth asking price, Garay is being touted as an alternative option at centre-back.
The 30-year-old is an experienced campaigner and was chased by the west Londoners last summer.
However, he snubbed a move and opted to join Valencia instead.
Antonio Conte must bolster his back line at the end of the season.
John Terry is leaving the club and the Italian chief needs to source a suitable replacement.
