CHELSEA are set to open negotiations with Monaco for midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko next week, according to reports.
The France midfielder has burst onto the scene this season as part of the Ligue 1 title-winning team.
And that’s put him on the radar of several big clubs.
The Telegraph say Chelsea are ready to start the race for the star next week, who they expect to cost £43, by opening negotiations with Monaco.
They claim Antonio Conte’s side have a £200m transfer kitty to spend, partially funded by the January sale of Oscar to Shanghai SIPG for £60m.
And the report adds that they could ship out Michy Batshuayi to Monaco to get a deal over the line.
He’s yet to start a league game for the Blues this season since joining from Marseille last summer and is thought to be admired by Monaco.
Bakayoko has been a crucial part of Monaco’s Ligue 1 title-winning season, making 31 appearances in the top flight.
He also made 10 starts in their Champions League semi-final run which was ended by Juventus.
